After all yesterday's anxiety, Hunter had a hard time getting settled last night. To help with the swelling in his arm, he slept with it propped above his heart. He couldn't get comfortable until about 4 A.M., but it got the swelling way down. First thing this morning we heard our blood counts and another was automatically ordered. They were low and didn't make sense. That didn't really help with getting good sleep.
At rounds, Dr. Carrum was very pleased. The swelling in his arm was almost gone. He said he would put a call in to surgery, but most likely it would be Monday before we got anything done. We will make the IV work until then. A surgeon ought to be able to get a PICC in using the proper equipment. His redone blood count came back soon after and his WBC is 1.29. Hunter's counts are increasing at a great rate. His platelets came up on their own, plus he got a bag yesterday bringing his total to 77. He hasn't run any fever today either.
It has been nice to have a relaxed day after yesterday. Mark, Jana, and I are all exhausted and we get a good night's sleep every other night. And we have all our white blood cells. Now that it looks like we are infection free, Hunter is ready to be released to the RV and really rest. All his medications are switched over to pills except one more day of IV antibiotics. He was even able to sit up and check on a few things at the dealership, which hasn't happened in a couple weeks. His sense of humor has come back, and he was acting much more like himself. His appetite is almost nonexistent, but he's made himself eat a little today. We are praying his digestive system continues to heal.
This past Thursday was my parent's anniversary. Hunter and I are so blessed to have such a Godly example at what marriage should look like from both of our parents. Michelle and Zach were kind/crazy enough to have a cousin sleepover last night and our guys today to give Honey and Poppa a little break. It sounds like they had a noisy and busy weekend with 6 under the age of 5. After a donut breakfast they headed to the zoo. Michelle was just waiting for someone to ask if they were all hers, but she didn't get the claim the "twins, a 3 year old, and triplets." I'm sure they were just thinking it! I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but our family is awesome.
Please pray for Hunter's WBC to continue to grow, and for him to be able to get some rest. We love you Team Hanner! Your support and prayers are appreciated more than we could ever express!
