Clayton Zachary, Age 2

2 year old pics by Ashley Phillips Photo
Clayton, oh Clayton.  This guy is a character.  I love him so, but he is our wild card.  Our so very predictable, gap toothed, growling, tractor loving guy.  He has a gleam in his eye and fine hair that just bounces when he runs {usually from me after I ask him to come}.  Life is one big happy adventure to Clayton.  His eyes sparkle and seem to change color with his mood from gray to green.  He is the happiest guy you'll ever meet, right up until he's the most unhappy.  He cooperates and learns things strictly when he chooses to, not a second before.  I would describe him as stubborn  I could not love him any more.  He makes me laugh on a real regular basis.  Clayton adores his twin brother.  They get along exceptionally well, probably because Caleb is such a people pleaser he gives Clayton what he's after.  Caleb does know how to stand his ground when it's important to him.

Clayton is our big eater if he's interested.  It's not unusual around our house for him to choose his favorite thing on his plate then quickly eat it all and want seconds and thirds.  He loves fruit, but does a good job of eating his veggies too.  His favorites are Chick-fil-a nuggets, fettuchine alfredo, salmon & rice, and mac n cheese.  He weight was 28.5 lbs. which put him in the 50th%.  His height was in the 75th%.  Clayton has had an allergic reaction to eggs, so we are holding off on introducing nuts as well to hopefully let him immune system develop further.  Some days it would be really nice to just make a pb&j, but we are thankful that he hasn't had serious issues up until this point.

Clayton is the little monkey that started climbing out of his crib, so we had to lower them to toddler beds.  He is an excellent sleeper and loves his blanket.  The silly boy wads up his blanket and sucks on it.  After he's been asleep his blanket is a soggy smelly mess.  If he finds a pacifier, he loves to put it in his mouth, usually upside down.  He isn't offered a paci on a regular basis.  I was really concerned that he wouldn't stay in his toddler bed once he had the choice of getting out.  I've been so proud that he has obeyed and it didn't disrupt his sleeping one bit.  Just like his brother, he is excited to be able to put himself into bed.  While Caleb is an early riser, Clayton would prefer to sleep in.  He usually snoozes through all his brother's morning jabber.  Like his momma, he is a little grumpy when he is woken up early.  Most days he naps from around 1 until 4 in the afternoon.

You'll never meet a boy that loves truck and tractors more than Clayton.  His absolute favorite are big trucks that he can run behind and push.  He loves to gather and hoard anything on wheels.  It's not unusual for him to line them all up.  Clayton has got a little OCD in him.  He would rather his room be cleaned up before bed and is really good at helping clean.  Some of his favorite toys are stacking blocks and puzzles.  Unlike the other two, Clayton is left handed.  He is super coordinated and can jump both feet off the ground and throw a ball pretty well.  He loves to be outside, pushing his little lawn mower, tractor, or golf clubs around.  True boy through and through.  Anyone who bathes him is always amused by his bath antics.  He will splash, barrel roll, and go under the water, all while laughing and making a big mess.

Clayton tends to generalize when he's speaking.  Anything with wheels is a tractor, most food or drinks he points and says please.  All bodily functions he calls "Pooo-Pooo."  He cracks his daddy up with this one.  He understands instructions quite well, as evidenced by the growl he usually gives when he doesn't want to comply.  Clayton loves a routine, and usually transitions really well to the next thing in our day without me even having to ask.  While he's not usually my cuddly one, sometimes out of the blue he will come plant a big kiss right on your lips.  I love it when he tells me "love you, mommy."  He is all things mischievous.  Life is made better by our Clayton.
