I don't have any fancy words. Hunter's muscle weakness has progressed. Yesterday he was very confused and sleepy. His lungs aren't strong enough to get rid of the carbon dioxide that he should exhale. It has built up in his system. His C02 is dangerously high. He is in ICU and on a bipap machine forcing air in and out of his lungs. This isn't enough. He needs a tracheotomy and they have fit him in for surgery this afternoon. He won't be able to talk for the first five days after surgery. He no longer has use of his hands. His only communication will be with his eyes.
Now that his breathing is affected, he is critical. We need prayers that he can come through the surgery, and hang on while his body gets stronger. Doctors here have made no guarantees and to what the future holds. We are walking down a path we have never been on. Hunter knows what's about to happen. Please pray and share our desperate need for healing.
We are in a daze. This has gone downhill very quickly. We are introducing so many potential infections to Hunter but have no choice. Please pray for wisdom for those taking care of him. Pray for Hunter's body to defy expectations and regain his strength. We know that God is the Great Healer and lay this at his feet. Please join us.
We love Hunter so much. We need him home and healthy. These boys need their daddy. We believe God is not finished with Hunter and he will have an amazing God story to share someday. Right now we urgently need prayers.

I've been praying for you all for months, but will continue to do so. May God's angels surround each of you, His Spirit be with the surgeons and especially with Hunter.

My husband, Gary and I are close friends of Tony Mauldin and help with his Kenya ministry. I know Channing as she and our daughter, Lindsay, were roomies at ACU. I saw your Blog on her post and made sure it was the Hanners that Tony has been requesting prayers for in his emails. Father, in the name of Jesus, which is above every other name, I cry out to you for Hunter's healing, for miraculous recovery and restoration in every organ and every cell of his body, for you to fight every potential infection for him, for you to restore all function to every muscle, and full ability to communicate his love for You and your precious gifts of family to him. I cry out to you for solutions where there seem to be none, for answers where there are questions, for peace where there is anxiety and fear, for love over it all! Thank you for Hunter's life, for Jennifer, for Mark and Jana, for Chase, for all the amazing children and for grandparents and uncles and aunts and for you godly ones who are standing in every gap. Let the walls of Jerusalem be rebuilt in Hunter's life NOW! In Jesus' name.
Hunter Hanner, I call your spirit to the attention of the Holy Spirit! He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you! He has a hope and a future for you! Listen to His voice! You are His sheep and the sheep know the Shepherd's voice! Listen only to Him! Your hope is in Him is an anchor that will not be moved! He has loved you with an everlasting love and will not harm you! His plans are not for destruction, for death, for stealing but for abundance! Let every part of your body, soul and spirit believe that He is the Way for you! He is with You and will never forsake you. His love is perfect. Loving you all in His love.
