April 19th, T-7

We are 1 week from transplant!  It is exciting just to type those words.  In just 7 days, Hunter will be given cells that will enable him to kill bacteria.  Thank you Lord, for this opportunity.  Our transplant coordinator came by to let us know she has booked the flight and his cells should arrive next Friday night at 5:30, so his will be a late night transplant.
We had Lupe Tortillas for dinner last night.  It was delicious.  However, we probably won't be eating it again for a while as Hunter has his first bout with nausea late last night starting at about 2 a.m.  He tried to "fight it" but instead it turned into vomiting.  We didn't sleep after 2  Our night was pretty restless.  He now knows that when he feels the nausea coming on to ask for more drugs to help.  Hunter is not a complainer, but his doctors have assured him that now is not the time to be a martyr.  I knew that nausea was to be expected, but we thought it would be a few more days before it hit him.  It's not a very easy thing to watch.

Thankfully, the nurses and doctors have been awesome in getting his nausea back under control.  He has felt much better after getting rid of his dinner.  He ate breakfast and lunch with no problems.  Today was another blood draw day, so after his morning chemo he had blood drawn every 30 minutes for 4 hours.  During this time he got another little break from being attached to his IV pole.  He used that time to take a shower, and we walked quite a bit around the halls.  It's the little things, friends.

Thanks for the photobomb Jana!

These little guys have had a good week.  It is the highlight of our day to get to lay eyes on them.  We are missing our boys like crazy.  Hunter is through 11 of his 16 doses of busulfan, then we're on to the next two drugs.  It's hard to think about what we're putting in Hunter's body right now.  Please continue to pray for strength for all of us for the days ahead.

Praying for Hunter and all of the family. Praying for strength, endurance and courage. Praying for the time to move quickly so you can soon be home.
