2 Months

Two months marked a milestone in our house....sleeping through the night! For eight weeks, one of the boys were every three hours in the night. It wasn't always the same one, but someone woke up hungry right about then. We would try and get the first waker back to sleep to wait for his brother. Sometimes we were successful, and sometimes we ended up waking the sleeping baby to eat with his hungry brother. Clayton was usually the culprit. Then we discovered he liked to sleep in our {cool, dark, roomy, and comfortable} closet! I know it sounds bad, but it got him over the hump! He started sleeping a six hour stretch almost right away. Heavenly!!! Right about this time, I came to my senses and realized Caleb was suffering from reflux. We got him started on Nexium, and kept him propped up to sleep. It was just the ticket for nighttime sleep. I was still having nighttime help every night at two months. Let me say it again, our moms are the best!
Caleb Chase
2 month stats: 11 lbs. 9 ozs.
22.4 inches long
size 2 diapers
3 month clothes

Clayton Zachary
2 month stats: 12 lbs. 13 ozs.
23 1/2 inches long
size 2 diapers
3 month clothes
Some things the boys were doing at 2 months:
  • starting to smile and make eye contact
  • putting some weight on their legs
  • better head control
  • getting fat cheeks and legs
  • loving bath time
We had to get our dreaded two month shots. Both boys got 3. I quickly discovered that taking two for a dr. visit is not advisable by myself. I was so happy to have Jana there with me! It was so sad to have both livid mad at the same time.

Dr. T thought they looked great. Since they were not quite as strong as their big brother at 2 months, I had a few concerns. He told me to calculate their milestones from their due date and not their birthday. That meant they were off the preemie growth charts and their head and leg strength were right on track for them. It sure is hard not to compare when there is two of them at the same stage!
