Santa's Visit to Abilene

Let me start out by saying that Benton's daddy had to do a lot of convincing in order for Santa to bring Benton his gift for Christmas. He was going to get a power wheels four wheeler, but for not much difference in price he found a used real one. We have quite a while before we can ride it safely on our own, but for now daddy walks behind it holding the leash that kills it!
We arrived into town from Angel Fire and opened gifts as a family at home. Santa told Benton to look outside the front door....and a red present was waiting! (He asked Santa for a red present with cheese) At first, the big red kill switch was way more interesting to Benton than the throttle. After a quick lesson, he figured out how to make it go.

For now, we don't hold the throttle down, but instead push it and let it go. He also prefers to look at his cheering audience instead of where he's going.
We have lots more practice before we even know how to brake or steer. He did already request to ride through the mud. If you can't tell, that is one happy daddy who imagines lot of hours riding together in their future. It was a very merry Christmas at our house as Benton got me a new diaper bag and Hunter got me a pair of Ugg boots. Hunter got a trolling motor for his new boat. We quickly cleaned up then headed over to Honey and Poppa's house for steak and presents.

It was a great evening to have everyone together. The cousins hadn't seen each other in two weeks, so they were more interested in playing than opening gifts. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and his friends have spent lots of time getting played with at our house as well as a set of ocean animals to add to Benton's animal collection. 2010 was a very blessed year in our house, and 2011 will bring two more to add to the wild mix!
