Dear Uncle Chase,

When deciding upon a name for our second son, we knew we wanted to name him after someone he could look up to, come to for advice, and to teach him how to navigate the trials and tribulations of this life. We believe that you are one person who he can share the good times and lean on in the hard times.

You are passionate about everything you care about. From your relationship with God to your relationship to your wife, you are deeply invested. Although sometime this passion leads you to say things you shouldn't, you are quick to apologize. You are tough on the outside, but those who know you well know you are tender hearted too. You are willing to give up your time to serve others, often without notice or praise from others.

No one could question you love for the outdoors. There has never been a more dedicated duck hunter and we hope you will share that love with our boys. We know you will be a patient and willing teacher to our boys at the lake and in the field. You have already started Benton along the road to duck hunting as he carried around the duck you gave him for hours. Thankfully you were smart enough not to let him set in down on our bed or on the floor. There's not a door you won't knock on or a person you won't talk to to get a new hunting spot. We pray that you will pass on your persistence for the things and people you love to our boys.

You live out every day what it means to be a brother. We hope and pray that our boys will experience the closeness that you share with Hunter. You are his biggest advocate, his fiercest defender, first choice of hunting buddy, and have always been his best friend. You have spent many hours in prayer on his behalf, and would no doubt give up your life for his. You rejoice in his accomplishments and cry with him during his struggles. When you don't see eye to eye, you talk through the problem and move past without looking back. You work together, carpool together, and spend days off together. We couldn't ask for a better example of how to be a brother, and are thankful that our boys will get to see firsthand what it means to love their brothers by watching you. That's why we wanted to name our son
