Welcome home Hunter!

Thursday was an unforgettable and incredible day for our family.  I think some of you who don't know us really well might better understand the concept of "Team Hanner" after this post.  It turns out our church family at Southern Hills has been working on surprising us with a welcome home.  It's pretty tough at a church our size to keep a secret, but Hunter was shocked!

We left Zale, stopped at the dealership to say hi, and picked up the boys a few miles from home.  Then we were led by a police escort.  For the next two miles the road was lined with faces that have prayed, encouraged, fed, texted, and served our family.  I see those that just that day lent us a wheelchair ramp, met us after hours to pick up medication, and helped me move furniture to ready the house for a wheelchair.  I've said it before and I'll say it again....I don't know how anyone gets through a crisis without a church family.

Here's the behind the scenes plotting.....I was conveniently left off the Wednesday email this week;)

We had such a perfect day!  Thank you so much for all our friends that took time out of their spring break to cheer us home.  I know you probably couldn't hear Benton's voice in the video, but in all his six year old innocence he says "I think the whole city is here."  There were lots of tears flowing from behind my sunglasses.  The only reason Mark, Jana, and I were able to continue taking care of Hunter in Dallas is because there was an entire team helping mom and dad with our kids here.

Hunter is doing great at home and we could not be more happy to have him under our roof where he belongs.  The boys all have big plans for games, movies, and Big Game Hunter on XBox.  They don't want their daddy out of sight nor would he want to be.  Pray that Hunter continues to gain strength and his nerves in his feet heal.  God is good!  Today we CELEBRATE that we got to bring Hunter home- a day I've dreamed about for the last six months!
