Snake Charmer

The scene:

Clara and I are playing in the yard at Honey and Poppa's house.  We're feeling the grass on our feet, picking leaves, swinging on the swing, and go over to smell the flowers.  I look over out of the corner of my eye, and I see a snake slithering a few feet from us.  I say a quick thank you prayer that Clara didn't find him first, run her inside, and consult with Michelle.  Daddy wasn't home, Zach wasn't home, and I call Hunter who says I have to kill it while I know where it is.  Michelle gathers the shovel, and we go back outside to face the dreaded creature.  He was up against their back porch and next to a bucket, so I had a hard time coming up with my path of attack.  Thankfully the snake was sleeping.  Hunter said to aim for his head.....I was a little off, but did the job.  Once I was sure he was no more, we ran inside.  I think he might had had a slow, torturous death.
When Daddy got home, he dug what was left of him out of the hole I made chopping at him.  We found a rattlesnake, 1 button.

Not the biggest snake, but I still felt proud of myself.  With every hack, I gave a little scream aided by Michelle's even bigger screams.  He kept opening his mouth and hissing at us as I chopped at him.
We left him there for a little while as a warning to all his friends to STAY AWAY!
Next is the randomness I downloaded from my camera.  A couple weeks ago, Michelle and our babies took a trip to Ft. Worth to see Ernie.

We had an outstanding meal at Babes.  It was family style veggies and bread and you order your choice of meat.  Translation:  We pigged out.
Here is my handsome little man in his new jacket.  What a stud!
M'chelle, Macey, Benton, and I attempted to go to the Buffalo Gap flea market.  Turns out you have to go before 4:00 on Sunday afternoon.  Oops!
Here are the cousins pictures from ACU homecoming this past weekend.  We better start saving now...
Clara and Benton both look a little surprised.  Maybe they can't believe how big Benton looks.
Kissing cousins x 25, and counting!  So sweet!
Whew, got that post finished before truck or treat tonight!

Poor snake! Love the ACU sweatshirt pix.

I have really enjoyed having Benton stay with his Nana. He is the perfect little guy.

I'm cracking up picturing the two of you screaming while killing the snake. You're braver than I am.

my hero!! so proud of you for your bravery in the face of danger. i sure wouldn't mess with you with a shovel either! you forgot to say that that snake was like 6 inches longer before you hacked him to death. he was HUGE before he messed with the wrong woman!

excited for night #3 with babies in costumes!
