Day 288, Small Improvements

We've seen quite a bit of improvement today.  The rounding doctor told us to expect small changes and his function will not return all at once like it hit him.  He explained to us that the gvhd is attacking the nerves in his hips.  There is swelling compressing the nerve keeping it from sending signals to his legs correctly.  The steroids' job is to reduce the inflammation.  His muscles are all working and strong.  His legs just have a glitch when he tries to walk.  Hunter is more steady on his feet than he was yesterday.

I'm not sure why yesterday's videos don't show on my iphone.  I can watch them from my computer.  This was Hunter's attempt to walk a straight line yesterday.  Today's was better.  He can now put weight on his heels and has a little more of a natural gait.  This is bizarre.  He feels perfectly healthy.  We just can't help but laugh at how he looks.

These guys are rocking right along with E and Michael.  I think they were even early to church.
We got a text this afternoon that Benton even asked Aunt E "What does it take to make a baby?"  She's going to be very prepared when they have kids.  I believe she told him to "Ask your mommy."  Erin, Michael, and Aunt Ernie have shuffled the boys to a birthday party, taken Benton to a movie, had sleepovers, and E was working on helping Benton make his valentines box and cards for his party at school.  I'm sure they will be much more cute and crafty than what I would have done.  We are grateful for all of our family that jumps right in to keep things normal for our kids at a moment's notice.
These two are headed to SAM's for N&M's.

We feel very blessed that Hunter is getting the right treatment and showing signs of improvement.  He feels fabulous, and a little bored from just sitting around.  He hasn't had any tests or places to be since Friday afternoon when he was diagnosed.  We have had some visitors this weekend, and have enjoyed each other's company watching the olympics.  He is ready to get home, get better, and to get off his steroids as quick as possible.  Transplant has been a long process, and we were almost done with it before his little setback.  Please pray that his legs quickly returns to normal, and he can get back on track.  We need prayers for patience, for endurance, and for protection from infection in the midst of sick season.  Thanks so much for all your encouragement during this bump in the road!
