Day 98, Less Shots:)

Hunter's blood thinner transition is going well so far.  We had clinic today and he got reduced to one shot a day.  After taking injections every 12 hours in his stomach for 5 weeks, he is very excited.  His hemoglobin went up to 10.6 and his liver is almost in the normal range!  Happy Friday, friends!

We go back to clinic Wednesday to check his Coumadin level and go down on steroids again.  Until then, we are planning on soaking up every second with Benton once he gets here Sunday!
We've had a quiet week at the RV.  Two of Hunter's longtime buddies came over and brought dinner one night.  They fished a little while Hunter observed.  Lots of laughter ensued as Hunter told them about all his experiences.  It's much easier to laugh about them after the fact.  Normalcy felt nice!

I've been busy with my new sewing machine.  It has definitely helped pass the time.  Today I ran out of shirts, and my online order hasn't arrived yet.  Hunter told me that it wasn't a commercial unit, and that I should give it a break.

This poor tummy.....thank goodness for the new freeze spray.  Just a simple 10 second spray and the injection site is completely numb.  Methodist got it the day before our discharge and sent us home with a bottle.  It has made shots much more painless.

Our boys have had a fun week.  They cut hay behind our house, so they've stayed at Nana and G-Daddy's house this week.  Last year Caleb's asthma flared up and we didn't want to take any chances.  Their quarantine started on Sunday so that Benton could come to Houston this weekend.  Our doctor wants them to be away from other kids until Hunter is 6 months post-transplant.  This week they missed VBS and Hudson and Clara's birthday parties.  I hate it for them, but it will all be worth it in the end!
G-Daddy did baths and picked out pj's.  Can you tell?

Lunch picnic with Honey at ACU.  No one was looking in the picture with Nana.  Boys!

Sunday can't get here soon enough for Hunter and I.  It's been since the middle of April since Hunter has seen Benton, and over 6 weeks for me.  Pray that they have a safe trip to Houston, that Hunter's liver enzymes continue to decrease, and that his hemoglobin goes up.  We also ask for prayers that his blood thinner will be at the appropriate level and that Hunter can stay free from infection.  I know with every step of our journey we will be anxious as he regains freedoms from people and things that have been off limits, but pray that we will have peace and rest easy knowing our God had protected Hunter throughout his transplant process.  Much love!
