Finally our time had come! Hunter and I walked on down to the OR. The entire time until I saw them I was trying to stay calm and repeating my prayer that the boys would have developed enough to be healthy. Finally at 2:08 pm my first prayer was answered when Caleb Chase Hanner entered the world mad and screaming.

Then the process of putting me back together began. Hunter carried them out to the nursery where mass chaos ensued. You know you caused a scene when the nursery nurses take pictures of the crowd gathered outside the window. Thankfully, no one told me ahead of time what the recovery room would be like. With Benton, he came back soon after I arrived for us to spend time together. Obviously when you have twins your uterus is stretched much more than with one. One nurse commented before the babies was born "Poor thing. You have bowel sounds where your lungs should be." Trying to get everything back to its proper place was quite an experience. I was very grateful for the many doses of morphine shot into my iv. Needless to say, I was in no shape to hold a baby for quite a while. I'm pretty sure I was still slurring my words the next morning from all the drugs. I don't really remember meeting my boys until the next day, not that they were lacking in attention! All I wanted was to eat ice chips and try and keep my eyes open. I was blessed with such wonderful care by all the doctors and nurses who took care of us. I will always be thankful for them! Also, for pain pumps:)
