Backing up

A lot has changed since my last update! I didn't do a whole lot of updating about pregnancy related stuff. It was challenging to be pregnant with twins, and I didn't want to just whine about how miserable I felt. These two boys have been a blessing and a miracle since we found out about them, and I wanted to leave it that way.

That being said, I wanted to have a record of the last few weeks. I was rocking right along with pregnancy until about 32 weeks. My blood pressure started getting higher, which was no surprise since I developed preeclampsia with Benton. I was told to stay around the house more, and to check blood pressure at home. We made it a couple more weeks until I was put on complete bedrest at 34 weeks.

I can't say enough about how Hunter took care of our family at this point. After working a full day, he would come home, take care of Benton, dinner, and everything else. He had to be exhausted, but you didn't hear any complaining from him. We also couldn't have gotten by without the support of our families. Mark, Jana, Macey, Katie, Michelle, and many others brought meals, took care of Benton, and Mom and Dad spent many hours making sure all our needs were met. It's pretty challenging to be on complete bedrest with an active two year old boy! For a couple of weeks, I only left the house for my many doctor appointments. I was going to labor and delivery three times a week for monitoring, plus biweekly visits with both our doctors.

On the Saturday before the boys were born, Jacki and I went for what we thought was a couple of hours hooked up to blood pressure, heart rate monitors, and checking for contractions. We had big plans to get a pedicure after we left. Well, my blood pressure was too high for comfort and I was told I'd be in the hospital until I delivered. I held steady Saturday and Sunday, and the decision was made that Monday would be the day! Thankfully I slept really well Sunday night, and I was scheduled for 1:30 Monday. It was wonderful to have the morning to shower, visit with Benton, and to have some time to try and digest what was to come!

Here are our last pictures of our family of three, and me pregnant at 36 weeks. That was one large tummy!
